Find the Name of a Local Currency
FXLookUp allows to enter the name of a country to find out what type of currency that country uses. You can also search for currency by currency ISO code. To search by country, select a country in the "Option 2" drop-down box.

This tool on the Visa Web site lets you enter first a country, and then a city within that country, to locate the nearest ATM machine that accepts the Visa card. (This tool should be useful even if your use a credit card other than Visa)

The Euro

On January 1, 2002 euro notes and coins were introduced in the countries of the European Union (EU). As of April 1, 2003, twelve EU countries had started using the euro as their official currency:

Belgium
Finland
France

Germany
Greece
Ireland
Italy

Luxembourg,
Netherlands
Portugal
Spain

Denmark and the United Kingdom have opt-out clauses stating they are not required to adopt the euro. Sweden will adopt the euro as soon as they have fulfilled all of the requirements.
